Barron Industries AUSA Update

After a year of expansion, technological improvements and new quality certifications, Barron Industries is primed to offer a myriad of investment casting solutions to new and long-standing partners in the production of mission-critical metal components for the defense industry. In addition to the acquisition of a new 10,000 square foot manufacturing plant, Barron is also growing its workforce by more than 30 percent and investing in new equipment to bring on a second and third shift. Plus, Barron’s recently acquired NIST 800 cybersecurity certification ensures Barron’s preparedness in serving its aerospace and defense customers that need to maintain information security throughout their supply chains.

Technology Upgrades

The company’s technology upgrades include a new 325-kilowatt induction-melting unit, as well as a high-pressure waterjet blast system that accelerates the ceramic mold removal process. In the CNC machining department, we’ve also added a new twin-spindle CNC turning center with live tooling and y-axis turret. In addition, the new facility adds capacity by allowing the expansion of our CNC machining and finishing operations at our current 65-thousand square foot location. Barron Industries owns and operates 14 CNC machining centers including high-quality Makino, Mori Seiki, Haas, and Mazak equipment. Barron is experienced in the challenging machining of alloys such as 17-4 ph stainless steel, 90/10 copper, armor steel, cobalt, nickel, and S7 tool steel, to name a few. The machining of these alloys requires equipment with torque, HP and precision, which is why we continue to invest in the highest quality CNC machining equipment including: Vertical Milling Centers with 4 axis capability; Horizontal Milling Centers with 5 axis capability, and Turning Centers up to 20” diameter.

New NADCAP Welding Certification

Barron Industries has completed the NADCAP audit and certification process for our welding department.

Specialists in high-strength alloy and armor steel, Barron Industries offers a wide range of welding, utilizing either MIG, TIG or ARC welding processes. Barron is certified to weld ballistic armor steel, stainless steel, aluminum, cobalt, nickel, and other specialty alloys. Certifications include:

Barron is also NADCAP Certified for our in-house non-destructive testing including:

  • Magnetic Particle Inspection
  • Fluorescent Dye Inspection

NIST 800 Cybersecurity Certification

Barron Industries has achieved conformance with cybersecurity controls required for defense company suppliers that handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). Barron received certification for compliance with 110 cybersecurity best practices outlined in the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication 800-171. The certification granted by NSF Global Business Solutions applies to IT services to internal company employees and protection of company proprietary information. The NIST 800 certification ensures Barron’s preparedness in serving its aerospace and defense customers that need to maintain information security throughout their supply chains. By obtaining outside certification of NIST compliance, Barron Industries is ahead of the curve. In an ongoing effort to maintain information security throughout the defense supply chain, the Department of Defense (DoD) plans to implement a new program called the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), which will mandate cybersecurity audits and certifications for DoD contractors. Currently, contractors are only asked to self-certify that they have met the security requirements.

Proudly serving the defense industry for more than 35 years

Barron Industries provides its Aerospace and Defense customers with complete mission-critical assemblies in half the industry-standard lead-time. AS9100D Certified, ITAR registered and NADCAP accredited for special processes, Barron is a unique full-service manufacturer of ferrous and non-ferrous investment castings and completely assembled mechanical sub-systems.
