Michigan Manufacturing Jobs are top in the Country

Now Hiring Manufacturing Jobs - Barron IndustriesA new report gives Michigan’s manufacturing jobs a top grade. Ball State University’s Center for Business and Economic Research scored states on several areas related to the manufacturing industry for 2019. According to the study, Michigan was one of only five states in the country to receive an A in this category, which was scored based on the share of total income earned by manufacturing employees, the wage premium paid to manufacturing workers relative to the other states’ employees, and the share of manufacturing employment per capita.

Michigan is also ranked #7 in Industry Week’s list of the top 10 manufacturing states.  Manufacturers in Michigan account for 19.05% of the total output in the state, employing 14.24% of the workforce. In 2018, there was an average of 629,510 manufacturing jobs in Michigan with an average annual compensation of $79,320.10 in 2017.

In addition, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has released its annual report on “Aerospace Manufacturing Attractiveness,” ranking Michigan as the best state in the Midwest for Aerospace manufacturing attractiveness, and rising from 8th in 2018 to 4th in the country in 2019. Michigan is home to over 800 aerospace companies has attracted nearly $750 million in additional aerospace capital investments in the past 18 months.

Current open positions include General Labor, Metalworking, Welder, CNC Machinist, Quality Control and Process Engineer.  Wages start at $14-$20 per hour based on experience.

Barron provides on-the-job training, and for many entry-level positions, there’s no previous experience required. Barron also offers many opportunities for advancement through outside training and skilled trades certification programs.
